Canadore College has officially broken ground on a new six-storey, 256 bed, student residence facility, with construction to begin soon after. Working to develop this new residence building with Campus Living Centres, this will be Canadore College’s third apartment complex on campus. The building will very similar to the two existing residences on campus, with each apartment unit offering two private bedrooms, and a shared bathroom, kitchen, and living space.
Canadore College Vice-President of Student Services, Shawn Chorney, believes the addition of more bed spaces on campus, will ultimately help attract more students to the city of North Bay, “expand[ing] on the $90 million annual economic impact [Canadore] College brings to [the] local economy.” Currently, approximately 60% of Canadore College’s students come from outside the region.
The new residence building is expected to be ready for September 2014.
