Campus Living Centres is pleased to announce Clarence Chong as the new Senior Manager, Marketing & Sales. The appointment of Clarence Chong is effective April 29, 2013.

Clarence comes to Campus Living Centres from the University of Manitoba, with a multifaceted background in marketing, recruitment, event management, alumni relations, residence life, and hospitality. Clarence began his career in post-secondary education as a Residence Life Coordinator at the University of Manitoba and most recently, held the position of Coordinator, Marketing and Community Relations in Student Residences. In that position, he was responsible for the marketing (academic year and summer/conference season) and student recruitment of residence, developing a corporate sponsorship strategy to support residence life programs, cultivating relationships with residence alumni, and Residence Orientation.

Clarence also collaborated with the University of Manitoba’s Marketing and Communications Office and Office of Student Recruitment to incorporate Student Residences into part of the institution’s overall branding and recruitment strategy. He has travelled with Recruitment Officers to support their recruitment efforts across Canada, the United States, Malaysia, and Hong Kong. Clarence was a key member of the University of Manitoba’s Integrated Marketing and Communications working group, the Strategic Enrolment Management (SEM) Marketing committee, as well as the university’s Mobile App Committee. In 2008, Clarence attended the Canadian Institute on Student Affairs and Services (CISAS) receiving a certificate from CHERD. Through the years, he has attended a multitude of workshops and seminars on topics such as social media marketing, hospitality and customer service, communication, and leadership.

Prior to his work at the University of Manitoba, Clarence started his career in hospitality as the Campus Relations Manager at Canad Inns, the largest hotel franchise in Manitoba. The position focused on developing strong relationships with all post-secondary institutions in Manitoba with the goal of increasing market share and overall sales in the areas of food and beverage, hotel, conference, and banquet services. In this regard, Clarence was responsible for developing and managing university/college sales on behalf of all Canad Inns’ franchises operating in Manitoba.

Clarence holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) degree from the University of Manitoba, where he majored in International Business. Clarence lived in residence during his undergraduate studies and held multiple student government positions in residence, including Vice-President Finance, Vice-President Services, and President. In his final year of school, Clarence also held the position of Assistant Director of Programming with the University of Manitoba Students’ Union. Clarence is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Integrated Studies at Athabasca University.
